A variant of Chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus)
A fluffy ornamental breed with hair-like (silkied) feathers, black skin, five toes, and feathered legs. Ancient Asian breed kept for show and as broody mothers.
Keeper tips for this variant
The fluffy plumage isn't waterproof — keep Silkies dry and draft-free, as a wet, chilled Silkie loses insulation far faster than a normal-feathered bird.
