Shetlands occur in 11 recognised main whole-colours and many patterns, known by Shetland dialect terms such as moorit (red-brown), shaela (dark grey), emsket (dusky blue-grey), musket (light grey-brown), mioget (honey) and black, plus over 30 named markings (e.g. katmoget, gulmoget, bersugget). White is also common.
