Wild-type
A variant of Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum)
The original mottled greenish-brown to dark olive form with speckled gold iridophores and dark eyes, matching wild Lake Xochimilco animals.
Keeper tips for this variant
Wild-types hide their stress poorly in bare tanks; give dark substrate (fine sand only) so the camouflaged coloration stays bold and the animal feels secure.
