Black-headed (wild-type)
A variant of Gouldian finch (Chloebia gouldiae)

Representative Gouldian finchphoto — a dedicated image of this exact morph isn't available yet.
The most common wild head color — a jet-black mask. Roughly three-quarters of wild Gouldians are black-headed, making it the default in the trade.
Keeper tips for this variant
Gouldians are sensitive to cold and to air-sac mite — keep them above about 18°C/65°F with good ventilation, and treat prophylactically for mite at the first sign of clicking/wheezing.
