Terms of Service
Last updated: June 9, 2026 · Effective only after counsel review
Welcome to KinStation. These terms govern your use of the KinStation website, mobile apps, and any related services (the “Service”). KinStation is operated as a subsidiary of Nexudeit Corp. By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. KinStation is currently available only to users in the United States.
Educational purpose only — not veterinary advice
KinStation is an educational reference. The encyclopedia, behavioral AI, first-aid pages, and any other content on the Service are for general information. They are not veterinary advice, not a diagnosis, and not a treatment plan. They do not establish a veterinarian-client-patient relationship.
Always call your veterinarian. If your pet is sick, injured, or behaving unusually, contact a licensed veterinarian or an emergency animal hospital immediately. If you cannot reach your regular vet, call the nearest emergency animal hospital. Do not delay professional care because of anything you read on KinStation.
No liability for medical decisions
To the fullest extent permitted by law, KinStation, Nexudeit Corp., and our reviewers, contractors, and contributors are not liable for any decision you make about your pet’s health, behavior, diet, housing, or care. You take full responsibility for your pet’s welfare. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” with no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Behavioral AI guardrails
The behavioral AI is designed to escalate to a licensed veterinarian for medical signs, sudden behavior change, bite history, and any potentially urgent situation. It will not provide numeric medication doses. The escalation rules are intentionally conservative. If the AI tells you to call your vet, please do.
User accounts
You can use KinStation with a KinStation account (your email and a password) or with a Nexude single sign-on account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, and notify us if you suspect unauthorized use of your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
Community enforcement & rate limits
To keep the community safe and spam-free, KinStation may rate-limit how often an account can post and may suspend or ban accounts that violate our community rules. Suspended accounts cannot post until reinstated. Every post is reviewed before it is published. See our community rules.
Account succession & legal access
KinStation is a custodian of digital assets under the Revised Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act (RUFADAA). If an account holder passes away or becomes incapacitated, or where a court order, subpoena, guardianship order, or other legal order applies, a verified executor, next of kin, guardian, conservator, attorney, or authorized agent may request memorialization, a data export to the estate, deletion, legal hold, or production via our account access request process. Every request requires certified proof of identity and authority (e.g. death certificate, letters testamentary, guardianship order, or the court order itself), is manually reviewed with a cooling-off period, and high-authority requests require legal-counsel review and a two-person sign-off. KinStation will never reveal a password or transfer login access; outcomes are limited to memorialization, data export, deletion, or legal hold/production. Knowingly false or fraudulent requests may be reported to law enforcement. This section is a placeholder pending counsel review.
User-generated content
You retain ownership of content you submit — pet records, photos, provider listings, reviews, and any text you contribute. By submitting content you grant KinStation a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as needed to operate and promote the Service.
You represent that your content does not infringe anyone else’s rights, is not unlawful or harassing, and is not deceptive. We may remove content that violates these terms or our community standards.
Public profiles & visibility
Your KinStation profile is private by default. If you choose to make it public in account settings, your profile page displays your display name, the species in your collection (the animals you mark as kept), the community threads you have published, and public activity stats derived from that activity (a reputation score and achievement badges) — to anyone, signed in or not. It does not display your email, your pet medical records, your saved or bookmarked items, or the species and forums you follow. You can switch your profile back to private at any time, which immediately removes it from public view. Only publish a display name, and keep a collection, you are comfortable showing publicly.
Referrals (“Invite a Keeper”)
You may invite others to KinStation with your personal invite link. If a person who is new to KinStation creates an account through your link and verifies their email, we credit your account with a referral reward (currently a number of free premium days). Conditions: the reward is granted only after the referred account verifies its email; each new account can be referred only once; you cannot refer yourself; and the reward applies only to genuine, new accounts. We may withhold or revoke rewards, and may suspend or change the referral program at any time, if we detect self-referral, duplicate or automated sign-ups, or other abuse. Referral rewards have no cash value, are non-transferable, and are not redeemable for money. Program details are a working draft pending counsel review.
Trade-value estimates
Some features (including certain Pro features) display an estimated hobby trade value for species color/pattern morphs. These figures are rough, automatically generated community estimates provided for general interest only. They are not appraisals, offers, price quotes, or guarantees of value, and real prices vary widely by source, locality, size, health, and condition. Do not rely on them to buy, sell, insure, or value any animal. KinStation is not a party to any transaction between you and any other person and is not liable for decisions you make based on these estimates.
Community Q&A
The community lets pet owners ask and answer questions. Every post enters a moderation queue and is not published until approved — posts do not appear publicly the moment you submit them. Posting may require a verified email. Community answers are owner-to-owner peer information, not veterinary advice; for anything medical, contact a licensed veterinarian. We may hide, lock, remove, or refuse posts, and suspend accounts, to keep the community safe and on-topic.
Tank journals (build threads)
Journals are public, member-posted build logs. Unlike Q&A posts, journals and their entries publish immediately (no pre-review), but they remain subject to the same community rules, the report mechanism, and our right to hide or remove them. Posting requires a verified email and is blocked for suspended or rate-limited accounts. Journals are owner-to-owner hobby information, not veterinary advice. When you link an image to a journal or entry, you confirm you have the right to use and display it; do not post images you do not own or have permission to share.
Water-parameter tracker
The water-parameter tracker at /tools/water-params is a self-logging tool that lets you record dated aquarium and reef readings — temperature, pH, salinity, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, nitrate, phosphate, ammonia, and nitrite — and view trend charts. It is an informational reference tool only. Nothing it displays, calculates, or suggests constitutes veterinary advice, aquatic husbandry advice tailored to your tank or its inhabitants, a dosing recommendation, or an equipment recommendation.
The “ideal range” color-coding (green, amber, red) shown alongside your readings reflects generic published reef-keeping reference targets sourced from hobbyist and scientific literature. These ranges are not calibrated to your specific system, livestock, coral species, tank age, equipment, or dosing regime. A reading shown in amber or red does not mean your tank is unsafe; a reading shown in green does not mean your tank is healthy. Parameters interact with each other and with biological load in ways this tool does not and cannot model.
You are solely responsible for all husbandry decisions you make about your aquarium, reef, or pond, including but not limited to dosing, water changes, equipment adjustments, livestock purchases or removals, and coral or plant care. You assume all risk of loss — including loss of or injury to livestock, coral, plants, equipment, and property — that arises from or relates to your use of this tool or your reliance on any data, trend, calculation, or color-coding it displays.
The tracker and its outputs are provided “as is” and “as available,” with no warranty of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for any particular purpose. This is in addition to, and does not limit, the general “as is” disclaimer and limitation of liability stated elsewhere in these terms, which apply to this tool in full. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, KinStation and Nexudeit Corp. are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or exemplary loss or damage arising from your use of the water-parameter tracker, including any loss of livestock, coral, plants, equipment, or property.
If you are unsure about the water chemistry requirements of your specific species, livestock, or system, consult an experienced aquarist, a reputable aquarium retailer, or a specialist.
Boards
Boards (/boards) are named collections that you create to save and organize species, morphs, plants, community threads, and journals. Each board has a title, an optional description, and an optional cover-image URL you supply. Boards are your content; KinStation does not create, curate, or endorse the collections or their contents.
Public vs. private. When you create a board you choose whether it is public or private. A public boardis visible to anyone — signed in or not — at the board’s URL, on your public profile (if your profile is public), and in the KinStation Boards directory. A private board is visible only to you. You can change a board between public and private at any time; switching a board to private removes it from public view and the directory immediately.
Your representations and warranties.By creating or editing a board you represent and warrant that: (a) you own or have all necessary rights to the board’s title, description, and any cover-image URL you supply; (b) the image at any cover-image URL you link is not infringing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise unlawful; (c) no element of your board violates any applicable law or third-party right, including intellectual property rights; and (d) you have the right to grant KinStation the license described below. Do not supply a cover-image URL unless you own the image, have a license to use and display it publicly, or the image is in the public domain. Linking to an image hosted on a third-party site does not transfer any rights to that image to you or to KinStation; you are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to use and link it.
License grant for boards. The base user-content license stated elsewhere in these terms applies to all board content. For public boards, you additionally grant KinStation a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display the board’s title, description, item list, and cover image (a) at the board’s public URL, (b) on your public profile page, and (c) in the KinStation Boards directory, search results, and any promotional or social surface of the Service. This license ends when you delete the board or make it private, except that KinStation may retain cached or indexed copies for a reasonable transitional period.
No endorsement.KinStation’s decision to host, display, or include a board in the Boards directory is not an endorsement of the board, its contents, or its creator. KinStation does not verify the accuracy, legality, or completeness of board contents, and may at its discretion and without prior notice hide, remove, refuse, or unlist any board or its contents that we believe violates these terms, our community rules, any applicable law, or any third-party right, or that we receive a credible complaint or takedown notice about. Removal does not affect our right to retain records for legal, safety, and abuse-prevention purposes.
Encyclopedia content and media licensing
Encyclopedia and plant entries are compiled from open references and are reviewed by licensed veterinarians where indicated. Some entries are drafts pending review; treat them accordingly. Photographs, animal calls, and video clips shown on species pages are sourced from open repositories such as Wikimedia Commons and xeno-canto and remain the property of their respective authors under the licenses (for example, Creative Commons) shown with each item — attribution and license are displayed alongside the media. KinStation’s own text, layout, and software are owned by KinStation and Nexudeit Corp.; you may not bulk-copy or redistribute them except as permitted above.
Provider listings and reviews
Clinic and sitter listings are submitted by providers and reviewed by KinStation staff before they are published. Reviews are written by users about their own experiences. KinStation does not endorse any provider, and inclusion of a provider in our directory is not a recommendation. We may remove listings or reviews at our discretion, including if we receive credible complaints.
Vet volunteer reviewers
Veterinary volunteer reviewers operate under a separate volunteer reviewer agreement which sets out scope, byline use, indemnity, and conflict-of-interest terms. Reviewer content is signed off in good faith and is still general information — it is not advice for any individual animal.
Prohibited uses
- Do not use the Service to harass, threaten, or defame any person, business, or animal welfare worker.
- Do not submit content that promotes animal cruelty, illegal wildlife trade, or unsafe care practices.
- Do not scrape, crawl, or bulk-download the Service except as expressly permitted.
- Do not use any KinStation Boards directory, public board, or public profile to bulk-collect, harvest, scrape, or compile KinStation’s species data, taxonomy, or other proprietary content, or to train or fine-tune a machine-learning model, without our express written permission.
- Do not attempt to bypass authentication, abuse rate limits, or interfere with other users.
Account termination
You may close your account at any time by emailing [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, create safety risk, or are inactive for an extended period. We will attempt to notify you before termination except in cases of urgent safety or legal risk.
Changes to the Service or these terms
KinStation is in active development. Features may change, be added, be flag-gated, or be removed. We may also update these terms; if a change is material we will notify active accounts by email and post an updated “last updated” date here. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Nexudeit Corp. is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You and KinStation agree that any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in that jurisdiction, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property or confidential information.
Dispute resolution
Before filing any formal claim, you agree to contact us at [email protected] and give us a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue. Most problems can be solved with a quick conversation.
