Blue Carpet Anemone

A variant of Carpet anemone (Stichodactyla gigantea)

Blue Carpet Anemone

Representative Carpet anemonephoto — a dedicated image of this exact morph isn't available yet.

A giant carpet anemone (*Stichodactyla gigantea*) in an uncommon blue to deep blue-teal coloration across its short-tentacled disc. Blue is one of the scarcer wild color forms of the species.

📜 Backstory

Blue Carpets are uncommon wild-collected color morphs of *S. gigantea*, listed by importers such as Aqua Imports (which has offered Sri Lanka-collected blue gigantea around $400) and BlueZoo Aquatics. They are harvested from the wild, not farmed; 'blue' is a color grade rather than a documented clonal lineage, so the specific origin of any given specimen is debated. Like all gigantea, it is an advanced-keeper animal with notoriously fragile shipping survival.

Keeper tips for this variant

Same demanding care as other giant carpets: intense light, moderate-to-strong flow, a deep sandbed for the foot near the rocks, and frequent meaty feedings. Keep it well away from corals because of its potent sting, and secure powerheads since it may relocate before settling.
