Ultra Red Carpet Anemone

A variant of Carpet anemone (Stichodactyla gigantea)

Ultra Red Carpet Anemone

Representative Carpet anemonephoto — a dedicated image of this exact morph isn't available yet.

A giant carpet anemone (*Stichodactyla gigantea*) with deep, vivid red coloration and short, velvety carpet-like tentacles across a wide flat disc. The 'Ultra Red' grade is among the most prized and expensive color forms of the species.

📜 Backstory

The Ultra Red is a wild-collected, hand-selected color morph of *S. gigantea*, traded under names like 'Stichodactyla Gigantea Ultra Red' by specialty importers and stores, where premium specimens command roughly €600 and up. It is a wild-harvested colored specimen, not an aquacultured line, and 'Ultra Red' denotes a top color grade rather than a documented clonal lineage. *S. gigantea* is the most demanding of the carpet anemones and is best left to advanced keepers.

Keeper tips for this variant

Demands a large, well-established tank with intense light and strong flow, plenty of meaty feedings, and a deep sandbed near the rockwork for its foot. These can wander and sting hard, so secure powerheads and give it plenty of space away from corals.
