A giant carpet anemone (*Stichodactyla gigantea*) in a striking purple-to-magenta base color, one of the more sought-after wild color forms of the species.

📜 Backstory

Purple Carpets are uncommon wild-collected color morphs of *S. gigantea*, offered at premium prices (often around $300-400) by importers and specialty shops such as Upscale Aquatics. They are harvested from the wild, not aquacultured; 'purple' is a color grade rather than a clonal line, so origin is best treated as wild-collected color, debated for any individual piece. Like all gigantea, it is an advanced-keeper animal with notoriously fragile shipping survival.

Keeper tips for this variant

Provide intense light, strong flow and a deep sandbed for the foot at the base of the rockwork, plus frequent meaty feeding. Never place it near corals given its potent, sticky sting.
