Racing Homer

A variant of Domestic pigeon (Columba livia domestica)

Racing Homer

Representative Domestic pigeonphoto — a dedicated image of this exact morph isn't available yet.

The athletic racing/homing breed selectively bred for speed and an extraordinary ability to navigate home over long distances. The backbone of the racing fancy and the most widely kept utility pigeon.

Keeper tips for this variant

Train young birds (4-8 weeks past weaning) by releasing from gradually increasing distances; never road-toss before they've settled to the loft or they will be lost. Vaccinate for PMV before the race season.
