Purple Duncan
A variant of Duncan coral (Duncanopsammia axifuga)

Representative Duncan coralphoto — a dedicated image of this exact morph isn't available yet.
A sought-after oddball grade with **heavily purple** polyps — purple skin and tentacles with little to no green — instead of the usual green-dominant look.
📜 Backstory
A purple-dominant color variant discussed and traded among hobbyists on **Reef2Reef** and **Humble.Fish**, where keepers note that mostly-purple, green-light Duncans turn up occasionally and are harder to find than green grades. There is no single originating vendor — it surfaces as a natural color variant within wild Australian collections, and some online 'purple Duncan' photos are actually other corals or a trick of the light, so its status and lineage are debated.
Keeper tips for this variant
Keep under moderate (not high) light and gentle flow; excessive intensity tends to drive Duncans back toward green and can wash out the purple.
