Aussie Elegance

A variant of Elegance coral (Catalaphyllia jardinei)

Aussie Elegance

Representative Elegance coralphoto — a dedicated image of this exact morph isn't available yet.

Australian-collected Elegance with a thick, vividly colored mantle — often gold, green, or lavender tentacles with contrasting tip color and a bold striped foot.

📜 Backstory

After the Indonesian Elegance die-off problems, the hobby pivoted to *Catalaphyllia jardinei* collected from Australian waters, which proved markedly hardier and more survivable. 'Aussie Elegance' became the premium descriptor signaling that improved survivability plus richer coloration, and the higher price reflects Australia's strict collection quotas and the species' better track record from that source.

Keeper tips for this variant

Sandbed placement with low flow and moderate light; Aussie specimens are widely considered hardier but still spot-feed and avoid bright direct lighting that can bleach the mantle.
