Yellow Octospawn
A variant of Octospawn (Fimbriaphyllia paradivisa)
A bright yellow-bodied octospawn, lighter and more lemon-toned than the deeper gold form. Often shows green undertones near the base.
📜 Backstory
Sold as an aquacultured 'Yellow Octospawn' by Top Shelf Aquatics, Queen City Corals, and Reef Stable, among others. A color-descriptor trade name for yellow-pigmented wild colonies rather than a named designer lineage. Hobbyists on reef2reef note true yellow/gold octospawns are harder to find than green, so verifying the source is recommended. Origin debated beyond the wild-collection point.
Keeper tips for this variant
Moderate light (PAR ~80-150) with soft, indirect flow lets the yellow tissue inflate fully; avoid direct high-flow that keeps the polyp deflated.
