Monster Jam
A variant of Psammocora (sandpaper coral) (Psammocora contigua)
Representative Psammocora (sandpaper coral)photo — a dedicated image of this exact morph isn't available yet.
A two-tone *Psammocora* with a **deep purple base** and a **neon green growth edge** that can extend quite far across the colony, giving an excellent two-tone look. The retracted polyps give the characteristic velvety, sandpaper texture.
📜 Backstory
One of the most widely traded named Psammocora morphs, sold by both Tidal Gardens and World Wide Corals (WWC). Tidal Gardens' listing supplies the defining deep-purple-base / neon-green-edge two-tone description, and WWC offers it aquacultured at their farm. The exact original collector is not documented, so the wild lineage is origin debated, but it propagates readily in captivity.
Keeper tips for this variant
Give it medium light (roughly 150-250 PAR) and moderate-to-strong flow; it grows fast and tolerates a wide range of conditions, so it makes a forgiving SPS for newer reefers. Leave a little open rock so the green edge can spread.
