Watermelon
A variant of Psammocora (sandpaper coral) (Psammocora contigua)
Representative Psammocora (sandpaper coral)photo — a dedicated image of this exact morph isn't available yet.
A two-tone *Psammocora* combining **orange/pink-red tones with a bright green growth edge**, the contrasting warm-and-cool palette giving it the 'watermelon' name.
📜 Backstory
A widely circulated morph carried by Tidal Gardens (which supplies the two-tone orange-and-green description) and also grown out and sold by World Wide Corals as 'TG Watermelon Psammocora.' A documented Reef2Reef 'First time release! Watermelon Psammocora WYSIWYG' thread marks an early offering. Different vendors emphasize pink vs. orange tones; a wild-collected color morph now propagated broadly, with the original collector origin debated.
Keeper tips for this variant
Medium light with moderate flow develops the bright green leading edge; give it open rock to encrust and spread. Hardy and fast-growing.
