Representative Pavona (cactus / potato chip coral)photo — a dedicated image of this exact morph isn't available yet.
An intensely metallic, fluorescent orange selection of **Pavona maldivensis** — brighter and more saturated than the standard orange wild form, with the species' signature clubby, bulbous branch tips.
📜 Backstory
Sold as a named selection by aquaculture vendors such as Cultivated Reef and Pacific East Aquaculture, which propagate it in-house and describe it as easy to keep. The 'Metallic Orange' tag distinguishes a especially vivid orange *maldivensis*; a similar bright-orange *maldivensis* is also sold by Freakin' Corals (FK Orange Pavona maldivensis). Lineage traces to selected wild-collected colonies rather than a single documented event.
Keeper tips for this variant
Moderate light to hold the metallic orange (too much blue can dull warm tones); moderate flow and a stable rock placement suit this slow, chunky grower. Sold by vendors as an easy, beginner-tolerant coral.
