The classic orange **Pavona maldivensis** with chunky, clubby branches and large ring-shaped corallites — often called the 'flowering' Pavona when its polyps are out.
📜 Backstory
The most iconic wild-color form of *Pavona maldivensis*, sold under 'Orange' and 'Flowering Pavona-Orange' trade names by many vendors including Tidal Gardens, Vivid Aquariums, Blue Zoo Aquatics and LiveAquaria. Origin is wild-collected Indo-Pacific colonies; orange is the most common *maldivensis* color, with green being rarer.
Keeper tips for this variant
Medium light and medium-to-strong flow; *maldivensis* is slower and more deliberate than leafy Pavona, so give it a stable spot and don't blast it. Forgiving and beginner-tolerant despite the SPS label.
